Checkup August 8th, 2002. Well, it's been about 2 months since my last update. Nothing much new has been happening though. I've made a few new toons and otherwise just pretty much been kicked back and doing nothing. The last couple of weeks, I've been feeling a little worse every day. I'm kinda aching and fatigued, my head feels full of pressure almost all the time, though it's not like it's a full-blown head ache really. I get sweaty sometimes and I've been getting kinda sick to my stomach. Barfing's no fun. I just feel kinda out of it, I guess. It's rather difficult to describe well. So, I went back to the doc today as scheduled, and he examined me and I told him how I've been feeling lately. He said my blood looked ok and he couldn't find any swollen nodes or anything obvious that would indicate the remission is over yet, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens next. He said he didn't want to wait two months this time for the next checkup though, because the symptoms I'm having shouldn't be ignored entirely, so he wants to see me in a month. I got an appointment for September 6th at 2: PM to see him again. He explained that it wouldn't do any good to do more biopsies on my bone marrow or nodes or any of that stuff, because it will just show what we already know: That I have 4th stage Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. All we can do is wait for the major symptoms to return, like swollen nodes, night sweats and that stuff, and then try to treat me again with anther attempt at cleaning out the cancerous B cells in my body to return my immune system back into one that's functioning again for awhile till it comes around again, and hope it works. He figures the clot in my leg is finally cleared up by now, and that the danger of more clots developing is small, so I don't have to take the Coumadin anymore. Now that that's over, he suggests I try to get more exercise, so I think I'll get a bicycle and start riding again. Maybe that will help alleviate my other symptoms as well. It couldn't hurt to try. I'm about to leave for a family reunion, and I'll probably be gone about a week, so if you email me and I don't answer right away, that's probably why. I'm hoping to get in a little snorkeling in Lake Michigan while I'm there, and I'm really looking forward to it! Well, 'till next time, take care and... HAVE
