D-Day
D-Day, the 6th of June, 2002.
Eight months ago, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma nearly killed me. Today, I
got the word from my doctor that the Lymphoma is in REMISSION.
WOW!!! Now that's great news!
He reminded me that "remission" does not mean "cure",
and I told him that I'm well aware of the implications, but that it's a
great word anyway and I'm really glad to hear it!
My next NHL checkup isn't for 2 months, on August 1st. Between now and
then, I'm still on the Warfarin (Coumadin) for the blood clot in my leg and
will need a blood draw every week to monitor it. But that should be
clear as well in 2 months. With a little luck on my side, all I'll
have to do after that is get a checkup every few months, and hope the NHL
doesn't rear it's ugly head for a loooooooooooooooong time!
There's not a lot more I can say right now. Thanks to all of you for
your support and comforting thoughts and messages over these past
months. Your words of encouragement have meant a lot to me, and still
do. I couldn't have done it without you.
Well, back to my cartooning...
Next: Checkup
